About

May 1 and 2 are Montenegro's two statutory Labour Day holidays. Because May 2, 2027 falls on Sunday, the first following working day is also observed under the holiday law.

Highlights

  • Two-day public holiday opening the warm season
  • The Sunday carry-over makes May 3 a non-working day in 2027
  • Wholesale and retail trade generally close, subject to statutory exceptions

Practical tips

  • Check intercity transport before travelling over the long weekend.
  • Pharmacies, fuel stations, markets and several other categories may operate as exceptions.
  • Attractions and restaurants set their own hours; verify rather than assuming they are open.
